Chiropractic Association of Ireland

What is the Chiropractic Association of Ireland ?

Established in 1983 the Chiropractic Association of Ireland (CAI) serves and promotes Irish chiropractors and Irish chiropractic services. The CAI self-regulates and supervisors, on a voluntary basis, all registered chiropractic practitioners in Ireland.

At present there is no statutory regulation of chiropractic therapists in Ireland and the CAI aims to fill this regulatory vacuum by providing an umbrella organisation that only embraces

fully and appropriately qualified practitioners.

Aims of the Chiropractic Association of Ireland

The CAI aims to ensure the highest level of professionalism within the ranks of Irish chiropractors. The Association also acts as a representative body for members of the CAI and actively sought inclusion of chiropractic practitioners within the Health and Social Care Professional Act 2005. Although unsuccessful the CAI continues to lobby the Irish Government on behalf of its' members.

The CAI only accepts members that have internationally accredited chiropractic qualifications. Anyone in Ireland may call themselves a chiropractor however only a member for the Chiropractic Association of Ireland may use MCAI after his / her name. MCAI chiropractors are safe and may be trusted in so far as they have reached the absolute minimum standards of qualification. All MCAI members must have graduated from the European Council of Chiropractic Education (ECCE). In addition, all MCAI members must have adequate professional indemnity insurance in place. Members must also take part in a continuous education program that ensures that MCAI members keep up to speed on developments within the chiropractic profession.
